Short-Haul Container Moves
Container transport is the moving of a portable storage or shipping container from one site to another. We focus on small containers that fit the deck and weight limit of our flatbed trucks, such as compact storage units and small shipping containers. Large 40 foot containers and loaded containers above our limit need a heavy duty carrier, and we will tell you that up front.

When You Need Container Transport
- You need a storage container moved to a new job site
- You are clearing a container off a lot after a project
- You bought a used container and need it delivered
- A container must move a short distance on the same property
Before We Arrive
- Tell us the container length, height and whether it is empty.
- Clear a straight path for the truck at both sites.
- Check for overhead power lines and low tree limbs.
- Make sure the ground at the drop-off is firm and level.
Related Services
Container moves often pair with Equipment Transport and Forklift Towing on job sites. Shop moves may also need Toolbox Transport. All of these moves use our Flatbed Towing trucks.
Container Moves in Dallas
Containers are common on Dallas job sites, at warehouses in the Cedars and along the Trinity River, and behind shops and restaurants that need extra storage. Many sites in older neighborhoods have alleys, tight gates and power lines. After heavy rain, soft ground can make a drop-off spot unsafe. We look at both ends of the move before we commit, and we may suggest a better spot for the drop.
What to Expect
- Call (972) 362-1607 with the container size, both addresses and photos if you have them.
- We confirm whether it fits our flatbed and set a time.
- We load, secure and deliver the container to the spot you choose.
Container Transport Cost
Cost depends on container size and weight, distance, site access and how much positioning is needed at the drop-off. We quote before we book. Towing in Texas is licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Site Checklist for a Container Drop
- Firm, level ground at the drop-off
- Clear width and length for the truck to back in
- No low wires or limbs over the drop zone
- HOA or city rules checked for street or yard placement
Who Uses Container Transport
Contractors use small containers to store tools on site. Restaurants and shops use them for extra storage. Homeowners use them during a remodel or move. We move small units between these sites within Dallas.
Why Choose Dawson for Container Transport
We check both sites first, tell you if a container fits our truck and give you a quote before we book. If your container is too large, we will tell you right away.
