Box Truck Towing for Light and Medium Duty Trucks
Box truck towing is the tow of a cargo truck with an enclosed box on the back. Common examples are 10 to 16 foot rental moving trucks, cutaway vans, step vans and small delivery trucks. These trucks are longer and heavier than a pickup, but they fall inside the light and medium duty range that we tow.
We do not tow semi trucks, large 26 foot trucks with air brakes or other heavy duty rigs. Call with the truck size and we will tell you right away if it fits our equipment.

Signs Your Box Truck Needs a Tow
- The truck will not start or loses power
- The engine overheats under load
- A rear tire is blown on a dual wheel
- The transmission slips or will not shift
- The truck is stuck in a soft lot or yard
- Warning lights come on during a move
Box Truck Towing Options
Many box truck calls start with a quick fix. A Battery Jump Start often gets a truck going again. A Gas Delivery helps when a move ran longer than planned. A Winch Out pulls a truck out of a muddy lot. When the truck must be towed, we use a wheel-lift or Flatbed Towing truck, based on size. Need equipment moved too? See Equipment Transport.
Box Trucks on Dallas Streets
Moving trucks are everywhere in Dallas, from new apartments in Deep Ellum and Uptown to older homes in Lakewood and East Dallas. Tight streets, low tree limbs and narrow alleys make these trucks hard to move when they stall. Delivery trucks also work the warehouses in the Design District and the Cedars, where loading docks and gates can limit how we reach the truck.
Summer heat pushes box truck engines hard, and many breakdowns happen in the afternoon with a full load. If your truck is loaded, tell us so we can plan the tow.
What to Expect
- Call (972) 362-1607 with the truck length, make and where it is parked.
- Let us know if it is loaded and if it is a rental.
- We send the right truck and tow it to your shop, the rental lot or your drop-off.
Box Truck Towing Cost
Cost depends on the truck's size and weight, the load inside, the distance and how easy it is to reach. We quote before we roll. For rental trucks, check with the rental company first, since many include roadside help. Towing rules in Texas come from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Light and Medium Duty: What That Means
Truck weight ratings decide which tow truck can move them safely. Light duty covers most cars, pickups and vans. Medium duty covers many box trucks, cutaway vans and step vans. Heavy duty covers semi trucks, large straight trucks with air brakes, buses and big RVs. We tow light and medium duty only, so share your truck's size and weight rating when you call.
Tips for Fleet Managers
- Keep our number in every truck: (972) 362-1607
- Share your shop address so we can tow straight there
- Let us know if the cargo must be offloaded first
- Ask about scheduled moves for trucks going to a shop
Rental Truck Breakdowns
If a rental moving truck breaks down, call the rental company first. Many will send help or approve a local tow. If you need a tow fast, we can move the truck to the rental lot or your new address.
